The Tale
Some weddings feel like a dream. Rachel and Kwame’s? More like stepping through a portal straight into another world, one where knights, rogues, and even baby dragons roamed freely.
On October 9, 2021, at Indian Rock Nature Preserve in Bristol, Connecticut, these two lovebirds tied the knot in a wedding that was part Game of Thrones, part Lord of the Rings, and entirely unforgettable. And the best part? Every single guest arrived in full Renaissance fair attire. Well… almost every guest (I, unfortunately, missed the memo).
The History
Rachel and Kwame’s story began in 2017 at ESPN, where Rachel kept hearing about a charismatic, tech-savvy guy named Kwame, the wizard of VR and 3D printing. After months of searching, she finally met him, exclaiming, “Wait, are you Kwame? I’ve been trying to meet you for months!”
That instant connection turned into friendship, then love. By 2018, they were dating. By 2019, they’d moved in together and started their first business. If that’s not the ultimate power couple, I don’t know what is.
The Setting
Set against the rustic beauty of Indian Rock, Rachel fully embodied dragon-queen elegance in a fantasy-inspired gown, complete with a regal headpiece. Kwame, dressed in a rogue-style outfit reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed, looked ready for an epic quest.
But what really set this wedding apart? The guests. Instead of gifts, Rachel and Kwame asked attendees to invest in incredible Renaissance fair outfits, and they delivered! From knights in full armor to tiny dragons (yes, even the babies dressed up), the commitment was next level.
The Reception
Their reception tent was a medieval dream. Tables lined with house banners, rustic silverware, and an epic feast that felt straight out of a royal banquet. Grapes spilled across wooden platters, hearty Renaissance-style dishes filled the air with rich aromas, and everything had that perfectly aged, old-world charm.
Beyond the feast, the energy of the day was pure joy. The wedding party posed with actual daggers for photos (because why not?), and the reception was filled with laughter, dancing, and a true sense of adventure. The whole day felt like a festival, a gathering of kindred spirits celebrating love in the most magical way possible.
Rachel and Kwame didn’t just throw a wedding. They created an experience, a day where reality blurred with fantasy, where love felt as grand as the worlds they adore. If their wedding is any sign of the journey ahead, one thing’s for sure: their story will be one for the ages.
